AN INTEGRATIVE TRAUMA APPROACH

EMDR & Somatic EMDR

Deana brings together training in standard EMDR and Somatic EMDR to support trauma work with attention to both psychological experience and the body.

Process trauma

Traditional EMDR uses a structured eight-phase approach to help clients process distressing experiences in a careful therapeutic setting.

Include the body

Somatic EMDR brings greater attention to physical sensations, body responses and present-moment awareness during trauma processing.

Integrate & move forward

Together, these approaches make room for both the story of an experience and the ways that experience may continue to be felt in the body.

A PERSONAL APPROACH

Trauma work is not one-size-fits-all.

Deana’s approach is integrative and client-centered. EMDR provides structure for processing difficult experiences, while Somatic EMDR creates additional space to notice what is happening in the body as that work unfolds.

The pace and focus of therapy are shaped collaboratively, with attention to safety, readiness and each client’s individual needs.
